Antique Fire Extinguisher by Kidde

c. 1910s-1920s; Walter Kidde & Company, Inc. - Belleville, New Jersey

Tall cylindrical copper fire extinguisher with riveted body construction, fitted with a cast top handle assembly and side-mounted discharge hose terminating in a tapered nozzle. The front retains its original embossed instruction panel identifying it as a Kidde fire extinguisher, with detailed operating directions including "FOR FIRE TURN BOTTOM UP." The form is industrial and purpose-built, with visible rivet seams running vertically along the body and a domed top capped by a protective carry ring. The surface shows a rich, time-earned patina with areas of oxidized copper, worn finish, and remnants of original coating. A stamped base medallion marked "AMC 5441 Equipment" is present, suggesting institutional or military use.

Shows heavy wear consistent with age and use including oxidation, surface corrosion, paint loss, and patina throughout. Embossed lettering remains legible though softened in areas. Hose and nozzle intact. Untested and sold as a display piece.
